Self Portrait

I put a lot of thought and time into my self portrait and I think that is what really makes it unique. I wanted to do the concept of being trapped in my own mind. As an artist, my mind is always going and always thinking of super random and crazy things. So I made the background representing my brain with all the crazy designs. I then placed myself in front of class to make it look like I was trapped in this diamond vortex. I then drew myself in a sort of "cold" way to show mt shyness that I am when I don't know the people around me. I also represented myself with things that really show "me" with my signature necklace, my deadlock, and my favorite outfit. One of my biggest insecurities is my feet, so I drew them even more ugly than they actually were. I think that this time, the brown paper didn't work as well as it usually does and I could have also done the mounting a bit better, but overall I am very happy with how the piece turned out.

Self portrait Proposal

For my self portrait I am very stuck between two ideas. I really want to do a foreshortened view of someone on top of a glass table (viewing the person from under the table). I couldn't find a lot of inspiration for this and I really don't know how I would do it....but I WILL figure it out. In the background of this drawing, I would like to do some sort of trippy, zen pattern (I've been pretty inspired by this lately). My other Idea is a 50's look portrait with the full hair and makeup and a 50's background. I might mix both of these ideas together....I might not......I don't know. Ill figure it out. The End! I want to do this sort of crazy background to show my "inner psycho". I am sort of a quite person but my mind is crazy. In this picture I would like to show this but trapping myself behind this window and showing how the background is my mind that I and trapped in. I am showing foreshortening by putting my hands up against the glass and one leg behind the other. This will make my hands look almost bigger than my head when they really are not. It will also make it look like I only have one leg.

Landscape and Cityscape

For my landscape piece, I needed to finish up a commission and this project was perfect for that. I painted a sailboat on a wooden panel with acrylics. It is a bit basic and boring but i tried to but more detail and color into it than I normally do, just to make it pop a little more. For The cityscape, I made a paper substrate out of book clippings (to tie in the collage idea). I then screened back the words with acrylics and drew over it in ink. I tried to make the buildings very illustrative and cartoon-ish but I still think it needs something more.
